She is also a pioneer in accessible travel and tourism, contributing as a writer and educator since 1986. Formerly the executive director/editor for the Society for Accessible Travel & Hospitality (SATH), Laurel is currently program director/editor for Open Doors Organization (ODO), a Chicago-based non-profit, and co-director of the ODO Academy. Laurel has an MA in Economics from the New School for Social Research and resides in New York City.
